About Me

I’m David, a personal trainer who believes midlife is the perfect time to feel stronger and more capable than ever

I’m a Level 3 Personal Trainer and Level 4 Specialist in Diabetes and Weight Management. I work with adults in their 40s, 50s, 60s — and well beyond — helping them get stronger, healthier, and more confident through personalised coaching.

In my mid-50s, I understand first-hand the physical and mental shifts of this stage of life. My approach is professional but personal: I challenge without judgement, support without ego, and celebrate every step of progress.

Whether you’re aiming to improve performance, manage a health condition, or simply feel more capable every day, I’ll help you train smarter, move better, and build lasting confidence.

Why I started BFS

I specialise in working with people in their 40s, 50s, and beyond because I truly understand the challenges of this stage of life. In my mid-50s, I've navigated the same pressures you might be facing—career demands, unhealthy habits, and the frustration of inconsistent training and minor injuries.

My own turning point came in 2021 when I decided to train for a Spartan race. That one goal helped me break a cycle of stop-start training and rediscover my own athletic potential. Since that first Spartan Race, I’ve gone on to complete several more, run marathons, and am now training to compete in the UK Indoor Rowing Championships — experiences that continue to remind me what’s possible with focused, consistent training.

I believe that lasting change comes from combining mental focus, physical strength, and quality movement. Its the basis of my coaching philosophy Mind, Muscle and Movement. Now, I bring this unique blend of professional expertise and lived experience to help my clients overcome their own barriers, build resilience, and enjoy a vibrant, active life at any age.

A Philosophy: Mind, Muscle and Movement

Every client I work with deserves more than a generic workout. My Mind, Muscle & Movement framework brings focus, strength, and freedom together:

  • Mind: Build the resilience and motivation to stay consistent, even when life gets busy.

  • Muscle: Develop real-world strength that supports bone health, posture, and energy through midlife and beyond.

  • Movement: Train for how you live — pain-free mobility, confidence in daily activity, and the freedom to do what you love.

Each programme is designed around you: your goals, your body, and your lifestyle.

  • What really stood out to me is the coaching style, it’s relaxed, supportive, and genuinely inclusive. It’s a space where progress feels achievable and sustainable.

  • It was very obvious to me the effort put into planning each session was tailor made for my requirements, it was always progressive, it was always hard but it was always do-able.

  • One of Dave’s greatest strengths is his ability to adapt his approach to each individual. He recognises that no two people are the same, and he takes the time to adjust his training style so that everyone feels supported and capable.

  • The honest approach, regular check ins, different styles of training kept me going to work harder each session!
